If you’ve been searching for the ultimate Fitness tool, you’ve found it. As long as your back is relatively healthy and you’ve not had any major back surgery, I’d totally recommend the Yoga Trapeze!
My interest in the Yoga Trapeze goes all the way back to Jan 2019 when a friend asked me to come and play on it with her in the park, whilst we were studying Ashtanga Yoga in India.
At the time, we didn’t do many moves beyond inverted crunches but a seed had been planted in my head back then and towards the end of 2019, I started to research the Yoga Trapeze which is different to Aerial Yoga/Silks as it is more accessible to most people because it has a set of three different height handles and is only about a metre off the ground.
I’ve just completed a Teacher Training in how to instruct Yoga Trapeze so I am much more aware of the postures you can do, and of course all the funky advanced poses you can have fun with too!
It really is an amazingly fun bit of kit, taking it several leaps ahead of TRX since you’re suspended in 3 dimensions.
As a Yogi for more than 2 years, I’ve never been able to do the splits or lotus position or backbend particularly well in all this time but after using the Yoga Trapeze (the secret is gravity) for a couple weeks, I’ve literally seen more progress than in the last two years.
But to be absolutely truthful, I haven’t practised the splits and backbend that much in the last two years!
Still...I think the difference for me is that the Yoga Trapeze is fun. It’s lightweight, can be set up in minutes (even in the park) and affordable. The learning curve is steep, but you get used to it every quickly (with a good teacher hint hint! ??)
I think when most people see it hanging there, it’s inviting - certainly for me, it has a kind of seductive quality to it and is easy to use with its multiple height handles.
I bought my first kit from eBay, but let me save you some time and potentially an accident - just buy the Yoga Trapeze from Yoga Body. It’s guaranteed for 10 years, has triple stitching on all the seams (the one from eBay was only single stitched) and the entire rig has been weight tested to 600lbs which is a lot!
