I actually just started doing yoga as part of my recovery from a car accident with a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and dealing with PTSD as a Disabled Veteran. This piece of equipment helps lose weight with several medications resulting in my gaining and also helped me to be healthy mentally as well. People tell you to try meditation but with yoga and all the focus and stretching this actually helps to complete more than one obstacle at a time. It is amazing and makes you feel amazing as well.
The Yoga Trapeze has been great to inspire me to learn new ways to stretch and strengthen my body quickly. Typically I feel like I need to be in a class to get the full benefits of yoga. (I feel more comfortable with an instructor leading my practice.) But I feel like I can easily to quick workouts and stretches with the trapeze. I wake up and there it is, so I can do some inversions and stretching and strength-building exercises as part of my daily routine.
I have been using physical therapy to help with back injuries. The Yoga Trapeze helps me with the stretches. I loaded airplanes for 10 years and really messed things up in my body. I am physically disabled. With that comes mental disorders like anxiety, depression and lots of stress. Even though I have only taken one yoga class, and know almost nothing about it, I knew I had to have this! I am able to get in and out of it just fine. It takes me a little adjusting to open the width up so I can scoot myself forward or backwards in it. If I had more upper arm strength, I could just hoist myself up using the handles and sit where I'd like, maybe after using this awhile longer, I will gain those muscles. Even though I'm unable to do fancy tricks and twists, I am able to stretch, wrap my legs around and go upside down, and of course, swing! Besides working on my muscles, this has given me an even greater gift. Peace. Tranquility. A spiritual comfort zone. I have it hanging from a tree branch at my home in the country. All I have to do is cacoon myself up into it and stare up at the leaves and blue sky, I instantly become part of that tree. Part of that sky. It slows my thoughts down so quickly and I fall into such an amazingly peaceful place allowing me to put my life stressors into focus and realize those things are small compared to much greater plans in this life. I am a middle-aged woman who is "falling" apart, with the need for knee replacements, debilitating arthritis in my back, neck, shoulders, hands, feet, knees and hips, as well as scoliosis that has fused the base of my spine to the side of the pelvis. I am 'always' in pain, and feel better moving, than when I am still. I have spent the last 20 years taking care of my family (emotional illness, domestic abuse in my child's relationship, cancer in parent and ultimately death, cardiac surgery, accident that left husband permanently disabled and angry, unexpected grandchild that lives with us…) The list goes on with why I was always too busy to take care of myself.
When my father was in Hospice, they offered a yoga class that took away all of my thoughts and stress, just for 60 minutes once a week. I KNEW yoga could help me, if I allowed myself the time to practice. Because of my own issues, I found it very difficult to get into the correct poses, or to even relax on a mat. It seemed that no matter what I tried, something was getting in the way and it was just painful. I was working out a back spasm one night and was looking through blogs about arthritis and pain and someone mentioned the Yoga Trapeze. The thought of inversion has always been something I felt would feel so wonderful for my back. The YogaBody Trapeze has helped to better seat my femur into my hip joint, helped free my shoulder, one of which had become particularly stiff in the last few years due to excessive computer mousing for graphics creation. The best way I found to stretch and relax my back and shoulders
I am currently refitting a 31' sailboat. After hours of grueling labor, the Yoga Trapeze is the best way I found to stretch and relax my back and shoulders to recover adequately. I have also noticed great improvement in my posture since incorporating the Yoga Trapeze in my daily practice.
I hang it from my husband's pull up bar in our guest bedroom door way. I love the release it gives my back with supported back bends and inversions. Even using it in a down dog really gets into the fascia of the hipbones. I am excited to keep using the trapeze to assist in building my upper body strength with the handles. I even use it as a swing for my 14 month old son.
